Integrating Human Rights Into Developmental Programs: An Empirical Evaluation Of Rural Developmental Programs Of The Government Of India
Main Article Content
Abstract
The integration of human rights into developmental programs is essential for promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development. This research paper evaluates the impact of various rural developmental programs implemented by the Government of India on the marginalized sections of society, using Amartya Sen’s concept of "Development as Freedom" as a theoretical framework. The study focuses on the effectiveness of these programs in enhancing economic and political freedom and examines their role in ensuring human rights for vulnerable groups. Data from 2016-2019 is analyzed to assess the progress and challenges of these initiatives, with a particular focus on the state of Kerala. Findings indicate that while significant strides have been made, further efforts are needed to optimize resource utilization and enhance program effectiveness.
