A Study on Interpersonal Intelligence of B.Ed. Student Teachers in Theni District

Abstract

Interpersonal Intelligence relates to the concept of interaction with the people around. It is about the understanding of others’ thoughts, feelings and the ability to respond them. People with Interpersonal Intelligence fall in the group of extroverts. They are sensitive to the moods and sentiments of others. They possess the ability to cooperate with people around them. They can work in a group with ease and efficiency and can understand the temperaments of others. The purpose of this study was to investigate In a Study on Interpersonal Intelligence of B.Ed. Student Teachers in Theni District. The present study Normative Survey method was employed which belongs to descriptive research. For the study 360 student teachers were collected using stratified random sampling technique from 10 colleges of education in Theni district. Interpersonal Intelligence scale was prepared and validated by the investigator was used for this study. The tool has 37 items in the form of statements to be rated on five point scale. The collected data has been analysed both descriptively and inferentially. The following specific statistical techniques have been used for analysis of data. Mean, Median, Standard deviation and‘t’-test. 74% (266) B.Ed. student teachers have high level of Interpersonal intelligence. There is significant difference in Interpersonal Intelligence between male and female B.Ed. student teachers. The female (M=137.07) student teachers (M=123.85) have more Interpersonal Intelligence than the male students. There is significant difference in Interpersonal Intelligence between rural and urban B.Ed. student teachers. Urban (M=136.18) area B.Ed. student teachers has more Interpersonal Intelligence than B.Ed. rural (M=124.73) area student teachers.
